The Sam Duffle Bag (A.K.A. seabag or ditty bag), has been used by U.S. soldiers since 1943. Our particular lot, while assorted, is a revised design that incorporates a grommet with metal loop and snap hook closure. Sam has a cylinder shape, snap side pocket, carrying handle and two adjustable backpack straps. Unlike our other refurbished military items, these bags have a wide variety of personalized markings (some are painted on the bottom!) and shades, varying from moss to dark hunter green. Our custom refurbishing includes a tough rock enzyme wash to soften the material and each Duffle is finished with an individually numbered WINTERCHECK FACTORY® ID tag.
We found a spattering of miscellaneous items left in these bags, from whistles to canteen covers. About one out of every seven bags will include an envelope with a recovered item enclosed.
