AMERICA'S FAVORITE SMALL BUSINESS CONTEST

A couple of weeks ago, we sent in a video entry for a contest being held by YouTube, Mastercard, Windows and Dell. Amazingly, we were selected as one of the 10 finalists!

From now through October 9th, the contest is open to public voting. You can vote once a day, everyday, until the end and there is absolutely no signup required. If you like what we do here at Wintercheck Factory, we humbly request that you log in a vote as frequently as possible, though even just once is greatly appreciated. CLICK HERE TO VOTE.

GOT A GIRL CRUSH MAGAZINE

Wow! We were featured in "Got a Girl Crush Magazine." Here's an outake written by editor, MEG WACHTER:

"I (Meg) have been longtime tumblr pals with Kristen that when we finally met-up for the first time for coffee, it only came natural that I asked her on-the-spot to be in our first issue (the whole internet to real life theme). Kristen’s drive to create is without end. She is constantly sourcing and searching for new things to create or recreate or repurpose. If you have not yet checked out her eponymous shop, WINTERCHECK FACTORY, to outfit your body, eyes, neck, and writing—then you are sorely in the miss."

3D PRINTING FOR JEWELRY

Midtown, NYC: We're working on producing some jewelry with a caster. Since our ring sample has intricate curves in it, the caster suggested that we work with a Jewelry 3D printer. Once they digitize the design, the printer can recreate the ring in different sizes which the caster can then mold.

Brooklyn, NY: We’re almost finished sorting through the 1,000lbs of military bags. Unfortunately, many of them are dusty and smell like old nylon so we found an industrial washing company in Greenpoint who will be cleaning them up for us. In addition to the rock wash, they’re using an enzyme formula which essentially eats the top layer of the fabric so it feels new but looks old. It’s a science.
