Brooklyn, NY: For real, our manufacturers in Greenpoint completed the entire run for three designs this past week and now we're shooting them in our office for the website.

Brooklyn, NY: Our powder coater in California finished cutting, stamping and coating the plates a couple of weeks ago and now we've approved the 6.5" banding for our manufacturer in Florida.

3D PRINTING FOR JEWELRY

Midtown, NYC: We're working on producing some jewelry with a caster. Since our ring sample has intricate curves in it, the caster suggested that we work with a Jewelry 3D printer. Once they digitize the design, the printer can recreate the ring in different sizes which the caster can then mold.

Tribeca, NYC: We have a new toy for WCF. This type of camera is typically strapped to a tree and used by ranch owners to see what type of game is roaming around on their property. It works by motion sensor so we're still getting the hang of it.

Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY: We approved the packaging for our clothing line this afternoon. The bags needed to be translucent enough to catch mistakes but we couldn't go the generic clear poly bag route.

INDUSTRIAL WASHING

Brooklyn, NY: We’re almost finished sorting through the 1,000lbs of military bags. Unfortunately, many of them are dusty and smell like old nylon so we found an industrial washing company in Greenpoint who will be cleaning them up for us. In addition to the rock wash, they’re using an enzyme formula which essentially eats the top layer of the fabric so it feels new but looks old. It’s a science. Here’s the sample.

We’re going to be in a design show called “Yall & Us,” curated by People of Resource in Atlanta, Georgia. The exhibition will be on Saturday, June 5th and is part of an entire week of Design Events put together by Modern Atlanta. According to People of Resource, their “focus is on presenting exceptional new contemporary furniture and housewares by young American designers who haven’t previously shown work in Atlanta.” Apparently there’s going to be fried chicken and bourbon, so naturally we accepted.
